The Caring Community of CT is seeking a Dietitian Consultant to support adults with intellectual disabilities in a group home setting. The Dietitian Consultant will be responsible for assessing nutritional needs, developing therapeutic diets and menus, supporting modified food consistencies, managing tube feeding needs, and providing routine staff training.
What you will do
- Conduct annual nutritional assessments using the nutrition care process.
- Design therapeutic diets and menus that meet state guidelines and individual needs.
- Provide medical nutrition therapy for individuals served.
- Manage tube feeding recommendations and nutritional support needs.
- Support nutritional needs of approximately 90 consumers across 22 group homes.
- Assess weight trends and recommend appropriate interventions.
- Modify food/liquid consistencies according to NDD and IDDSI standards.
- Teach dysphagia in-service training to staff.
- Provide clear verbal/written communication to staff, supervisors, clinical teams.
- Fill orders for habilitative equipment.
- Provide staff training routinely/as needed.
What you will bring
- Registered Dietitian license/certification required.
- Knowledge of modified food consistencies.
- Experience or willingness with adults with intellectual disabilities.
- Ability to support tube feeding needs.
- Strong verbal/written communication.
- Willingness to provide staff training.
Preferred education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
